Gangtok/ Due to floods in Sikkim, many tourists are stranded in the damaged areas. Indian Army personnel on Sunday rescued 300 tourists stranded due to landslides and road blockade in North Sikkim district.
Striking Lion Division, Trishakti Corp unit on Sunday helped around 300 tourists stranded at Chungthang in North Sikkim to cross a temporary bridge towards Gangtok.
Food, lodging and medical facilities were also made available to the stranded tourists by the army personnel. On Saturday, Trishakti Corp along with the Sikkim government helped evacuate 3500 stranded tourists.
North Sikkim District Collector Hem Kumar Chhetri said on Sunday- 'Due to weather related problems, landslides and construction of damaged roads, no new permits will be given to new tourists to visit North Sikkim districts for the time being. At present all the stranded tourists have been rescued
