20 private companies showed interest in making rockets for ISRO

New Delhi/ The efforts of the Government of India to get rockets made from private companies for space programs and satellite launches are paying off. Twenty companies have shown interest in making the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Two weeks ago, the government had invited private sector companies to get this rocket made. The first successful satellite launch was carried out in February this year from SSLV. This economical rocket has the capability to deliver a satellite weighing about 500 kg into the Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The market for delivering small satellites into space has grown rapidly in the last few years. The demand for these services has increased with American entrepreneur Elon Musk's company Space X sending several satellites (clusters) together for communication and data.
