BJP's dummy candidate withdraws nomination
Kolkata/ Ravindra Bora, the BJP's UM candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections from Bengal, withdrew his nomination. Saturday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections. The State BJP Vice President reached this Assembly and after meeting the Co-Secretary withdrew his name from the election. After this it became clear that on July 24, the situation of voting for the Rajya Sabha in the assembly would not arise.
All the seven candidates who submitted nominations will be elected unopposed and become Rajya Sabha members, as no one else is in the fray against these people. Six candidates in the Rajya Sabha elections and one candidate in the by-election will be handed over the certificate of being elected unopposed on Monday.
After Rathdra withdrew his nomination, the BJP Legislature Party said that they had given a dummy candidate for strategic reasons. The nominations submitted for the Rajya Sabha elections were to be scrutinized on Friday. Apart from the six candidates, BJP's Anant Maharaj and the same candidate Ravindra Bose were included, nominations of all the seven candidates were found valid. After this, the BJP decided to withdraw the nomination of its candidate on Saturday.
