Jammu / In the flash flood in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, two soldiers of the army lost their lives on Sunday. A defense spokesman said here that both the jawans have been recovered. He said that Naib Subedar Kuldeep Singh was crossing a river while on Area Domination patrol in a difficult area of Poonch. During this, he was swept away in a sudden flood. The spokesperson said that everyone salutes their supreme sacrifice and the Indian Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family. The jawan was a resident of Bagal Kala, Tarn Taran, Punjab. He is survived by his wife and two children.
The dead body of another jawan who died in the flood has been recovered in Putra. Detailed information about the jawan is not available at the moment. The spokesman said that the Padhajali ceremony of the jawans would be held at Rajouri later this afternoon. Meanwhile, a Met official has predicted widespread rain at isolated places in Kathua, Sada and Ramwan, Dhaura and Udampur districts in the next 24 hours. Full recovery is expected from July 10, he added. Due to incessant rains, the Tathi river in Udhampur and Ni Nala in Bhadarwas tehsil of Doda district have reached the danger mark. He said a red alert has been issued for Samba and other low-lying catchment areas of Jammu region. People are advised to be vigilant during the next 24 hours.
