New Delhi/ In the latest crackdown in Hyderabad and Vijayawada, the Income Tax Department has unearthed an income tax refund scam of Rs 40 crore. Eight Income Tax consultants and several employees of Railways, Police and Income Tax Department are being investigated in the matter. Notices are also being sent to them. There is apprehension that this scam could be bigger.
The department said that on Wednesday the IT Investigation Branch started the survey in Nizampet, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram in Hyderabad. This may continue for the next few days. The names of many employees are coming out in this. A case is being registered against all in the concerned police station.
