Bijapur/ An encounter took place between the police and the Naxalites in Ponar's Jangal Pahar in the Naxal-affected area of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur in the early hours of Saturday.
On receiving information about the presence of 10-15 armed Naxalites of Bhairamgarh Area Committee in Jungle-Pahar of villages Potnar and Samundi, a joint team had left from Jangla. DRG, Bastar fighter and CRPF 222 in police party
The youth were involved. Firing was done by the Maoists on seeing the police party in the forest. The search operation is going on in the area after the encounter by the security forces, who managed to escape from Navarli by jawans.
